Handweaving has been an essential cultural profession in Bharat since ancient times. Providing income & support to hundreds of families over the ages, in recent years this profession has seen a sharp decline due to various factors such as the rise of the powerloom sector, lack of awareness among the general public, lack of an organised structure, business acumen & marketing know-how among weavers, etc. Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust, Pune aims to solve these and other problems faced by the Handloom Sector through the setup of a financially viable & self-dependant system of Weavers, aimed at ensuring Stable Income, Respect in Society & Recognition as Artists for grassroots Weavers. We are working to establish a strong social movement for reorienting the Handweaving sector all over the country, by creating a Strong & Well Woven Network of Handloom Artists & Workers.
